Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) serve at the discretion of the pastor.
Ministers may serve in this capacity after participating in a class conducted by the Archdiocese of Omaha and attending a special Mass at the Cathedral where the Archbishop mandates the Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. St. Robert’s adults and students who are high school juniors and older may become EMHCs. EMHCs serve at daily and weekend Masses and also take the Eucharist to residents of nursing homes and to other homebound parishioners. EMHC schedules are available at St. Robert's website or in the sacristy.
