Like a lingering whisper in the silence of the night, the Lord comes to us. He has created us for Himself and sometimes our hearts feel restless, sensing that there is something more to life than we know. God often comes noiselessly, not like a strong wind or in the earthquake or in the fire, but as a still small voice (1 Kings 19:11). St. Augustine, an early Church writer and convert (+431), wrote of this inner disquiet: “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” His invitation is that we seek Him and open ourselves to Him. And as we respond, He will draw us into a never-ending journey of delight, happiness, and peace. And His love will know no end.
Perhaps there is something missing in your life? Do you have questions about this wonderfully mysterious person, Jesus Christ? Would you like to know and experience God’s love for you personally? Would you like to hear more about the age-old teachings of the Catholic Church? If so, give us a call! We may have what you are seeking. We are part of a 2,000 year old tradition and can help you find some answers. Know that as we seek Him, He has already sought and found us, and wishes to share the fullness of His divine life with us.
“Speak now to God and say with your whole heart: I seek your face; your face, Lord, I desire.” -- from the Proslogian by St. Anselm (1078)
R.C.I.A., the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is the process where we explore and learn about Jesus Christ as well as the Catholic Church’s teachings about him. We meet most Wednesdays from late September through Easter. Classes are relaxed and informative. Give us a call if you are interested, or if you have questions. “Come and see!”
Face to Face?
Day after day, O Ruler of my life, shall I stand before You face to face? With folded hand, O Ruler of all worlds, shall I stand before You face to face? Under Your great sky, in solitude and silence with humble heart, shall I stand before You face to face? In this laborious world of Yours, tumultuous with toil and with struggle, among hurrying crowds, shall I stand before You face to face? And when my work shall be done in this world, O Ruler of rulers, alone and speechless, shall I stand before You face to face? --from The Heart of God: Prayers of Rabindranath Tagore, Tuttle Publishing, 1997.
Make St Robert Bellarmine Your Home!
Each of us has our own life-story to tell, our own joys and sorrows, our own triumphs and failures. Each of us is forever unique and original before God, and yet we also have much in common with others. Sometimes things have taken unexpected turns as we have struggled to make our way through life. Perhaps we grew up in the Catholic Church but later drifted away. Perhaps we were baptized but never raised in the faith, or maybe we haven’t received the sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion, or Confirmation. If this is your story, you are not alone! You will find the path forward to be welcoming and uncomplicated.
Our Lord’s invitation to return to Him is forever unwavering. As in Francis Thompson’s poem, The Hound of Heaven, God pursues us “with unhurrying chase, and unperturbèd pace.” God's desire is for absolutely nothing to separate us from Himself. The priests at St. Robert’s are dedicated to the sacrament of Reconciliation as the wonderful means to come to Our Lord and experience His deep love and mercy. St. Robert’s has a number of organizations committed to assisting us in our growth in Christ. RCIA is also an opportunity to come to know and experience His divine life in us, and to be formed in Christ and to learn of the teachings of the Catholic Church. Come and join us in this exciting and wonderful journey of faith!
