Inclusive Education & Services
WELCOMING HONORING AND LOVING ALL STUDENTS
Pope Francis calls us to “build an educational relationship with each student, who must feel welcomed and loved for what he or she is, with all of their limitations and potential.” It is this challenge that calls St. Robert Bellarmine School to embrace our calling to serve all learners, including those with exceptionalities. We are proud to partner with Madonna School to provide:
- Special Education Teachers
- Teacher Assistants
- Related Services
- Resource Professionals
- Professional Development for staff
- A safe, secure and accessible environment
- A commitment to provide a faith-based education that meets the specific needs and maximizes the God-given abilities to all students in PS-8th grade.
BENEFITS OF INCLUSION EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES
- Strategies used to meet the needs of students with disabilities can lead to more effective instruction for all students. These strategies include explicit instruction, collaboration, and flexible grouping.
- Social interaction and communication benefit all students in an inclusive classroom.
- Inclusive classrooms create a culture of care and compassion.
- All students benefit from the resources available in an inclusive classroom.
- The collaboration of special educators and classroom teachers improves instruction for all.
WHAT OUR COMMUNITY SAYS ABOUT OUR INCLUSION PROGRAM
“We are so blessed to partner with Madonna and have the inclusion program at St. Roberts. I love to see the interaction of the students—forming friendships, supporting one another, and learning together. It truly makes every one of us better. What a gift!”
— Mrs. Nelson, principal
“I have loved the addition of the inclusion program to our school! Guiding my students in their educational journey has been an incredibly rewarding part of my career, and the Learning Center is a huge part of that! The diverse perspectives brought by our Learning Center students has added a new dimension to the learning environment, benefiting everyone in class. It's amazing to see what a sense of community this program has brought to our building, which makes such a positive difference in education.”
— Miss Zerzan, teacher
"When Griffin was diagnosed with autism at the age of 18 months, I had concerns that a Catholic education might not be possible for him. Now at the age of 12, Griffin has always needed resources and support for things like communicating, socializing, and cognization. I had heard about the partnership between the Madonna School and St. Roberts providing a Catholic education to kids with disabilities. In the Fall of 2023, we enrolled Griffin into the sixth grade at St. Roberts. The experience has been beyond our expectations. Griffin is excelling in his academics, socializing with his classmates, voluntarily attending school events, and making friends. He is an active, and very happy, member of the classroom and school community."
— Rita Hamele, parent
“The St. Robert’s Learning Center is a stigma free environment that matches a challenging program to our daughter’s ability level and provides our family with the opportunity to have all of our children attend the same Catholic elementary school — a dream come true. The gratitude we have for just the existence of this program cannot be measured and has changed our lives.”
— Diana Tribulato, parent
