Year you joined SRB
My teaching career has been “bookended” by my years at Saint Roberts. I was a brand new teacher in 1978 when I arrived at Saint Roberts. I have very fond memories of the years from 1978-1985 that include unbelievable students and families, lifelong teaching friends, and a supportive administration. I began working on my Masters degree from UNO and began teaching summer school for Omaha Public Schools, which led to a full time position with them that lasted for twenty-nine years. I taught summer school in many parts of Omaha. I was at Hartman School for twelve years and Picotte School for seventeen years. I am so grateful for those experiences, for the growth that I experienced as an educator and as a person. When the opportunity arose to return to the wonderful community of Saint Roberts, where it all began, I couldn’t resist. The 2025-2026 year will be my forty-eighth year in education.
Degree(s) held
I attended UNL for my undergraduate degree. I completed my masters degree with UNO.
Favorite thing about SRB (or teaching)
This school is special because it is supported by a faith-filled community and that’s what makes it strong.
Favorite bible verse
One of my favorite bible verses is Romans 12:6-7, “We all have different gifts, according to the grace given to us. If it is a gift of of teaching, we should teach.”
Favorite hobby/pastime:
What am I doing when I’m not teaching, preparing to teach or correcting what I have taught? I am reading something not related to teaching, connecting with family or friends, watching HGTV, decorating my house and loving my adorable dog, Maggie.
What was your favorite subject in school, and why?
It’s no surprise that my favorite subjects included reading and writing.
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor
The problem is I love them all! I am trying to stay away from them, but pralines and cream calls my name on a regular basis.
Any other fun fact you want to share
Why continue to teach, why not retire? My love for education hasn’t dimmed, I love the thrill of meeting new students and getting to know them as the year progresses. I continue to love learning and growing in my profession and the challenge of developing engaging lessons for the students.
